When I’m in Italy, I never get to go to brunch especially as much as I’d like to, so when the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely brunch with my friends @adrianmcarroll @cbconnell and my girlfriend @ninamclernon presented itself, I was excited to try a great spot. First Watch is a restaurant chain based in Bradenton, Florida with different store chains in the us. Of course, since this is the Kansas City series, the First watch location I will talk about, it will be placed here 😀
It’s hella fresh. As in they have freshly squeezed juices every morning. I’m all for decadent brunches, but First Watch is great if you’re looking for healthier (and delicious!) options. Their seasonal menus often feature fresh ingredients & unique takes on your favorite dishes. But don’t worry–if you’re looking for an indulgent brunch, they have that too. Highly recommend the multigrain croissant breakfast sandwich (complete with homemade pesto) or the lemon ricotta pancakes. Check out the full menu here.
I enjoyed the decadent French toast with bacon powdered sugar, and maple syrup.
The French toast was one uber thick slice of bread, oozing with gooey batter and maple syrup which I generously poured on top. I like to say “it’s never too much!”😜 The maple syrup melted delicately into each crevice of the French toast. The result was a rich, sweet, and fluffy delight.
I also tried this red-looking good drink called “Morning Meditation”, juiced fresh in-house with orange, lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar and beet. So many ingredients but all well mixed, it was SO good!
My friends and my girlfriend got waffles with bacon and scrambled eggs. I tried the waffle. It was soft and airy, and not greasy.
It’s got that rustic charm. Think chalk boards, metal skillets & great coffee mugs. It’s just quaint & cute–aka the perfect feel for being on the Main Line.
Note: It gets crowded, so plan ahead. You probably will have to wait a bit if you’re going during prime brunch hour, but I promise it’s worth it. On the bright side though, they do have a “community table” that you’re welcome to sit at if there’s room & you want to make some new friends.
First Watch is a welcome addition and a place I know I will definitely be returning!
I’m giving First Watch 4 hearts out of five!
